ANZAC PROJECT INTENTIONS and PLAN
* You can do this independently, as a pair or in a group of 3.
* Choose one of the ANZAC OPTIONS - look at the requirements and resources
* Complete an 'Intentions and Planning' document - on paper and online
When you have made your choice, go for it.
SHOWING YOUR LEARNING
* You will be able to show you learning in 3 ways
--> Visual - by making a diorama, poster, map, display, model
--> Written - You must include some written information that can be printed and placed near your visual to show your understanding
--> Verbal - You will need to do a short presentation on your learning. We can record it and put on your blog if you wish.
TIMELINE:
You have TWO weeks to complete your project. Room 24 are hosting the Kauri assembly in week 3 and we would like some of you to present at the assembly.
OPTION 1 --> WWI / Gallipoli Trench diorama
* Create a diorama of a WWI or Gallipoli trench
* Use polystyrene, sponge, wood, paint, playdough, small soldier figurines, small branches etc
* Look at examples of trenches - Use www.pinterest.com
* Research some facts about trench life to make a written display
* Here is some information about what it was like in a trench
OPTION 2 --> Flanders Field diorama
* Create a diorama of a Flanders field scene
* Use polystyrene, sponge, wood, paint, playdough, small soldier figurines, small branches etc
* Include brown, muddy soil, white crosses, red poppies
* Read the poem 'In Flanders Field' by John McCrae
* Research some facts about Flanders field to make a written display
OPTION 3 --> Then and now Weapons
* Create a model, poster of a weapon used in WWI and the modern version used now (e.g., rifle V machine gun; WWI tank and modern tank, WWI artillery V modern artillery; WWI warship V modern warship)
* Use any resources needed
* Research some facts about each item to make a comparison written display. It could be an A4 print or a poster etc
OPTION 4--> War Locations
* Create a visual display map of the different locations NZ soldiers fought at in WWI , OR of all the countries and wars NZ soldiers have fought in from the Boer War 1899 to Afghanistan 2016
* Use any resources needed
* You may wish to use Google maps to make an online world map of war locations
* Research some facts about these war locations to make a written display
OPTION 5--> Poppies
* Create a visual display and / or models of the different kinds of poppies each country has.
* Watch this video about poppies as part of your research
* Use any resources needed
* Research some facts about the different poppies and why they are different in each country
* Ring the RSA to find out who makes the NZ poppies and how many are sold each year
* Help Mr F judge the Oaklands Poppy competition
OPTION 6--> Your idea
Perhaps you have another idea of something you would like to research. Good on you. Come and see Mr F and we will work out a plan.
